The Gilven Project, Fife

Helping people move forward in life

What is the Gilven Project?

The Gilven Project offers several methods of support to homeless and other vulnerable people to obtain and / or sustain their own tenancy.

The project provides training in life and social skills, enabling individuals to develop their own potential and self-reliance in independent living.

Gilven House

Gilven House is our core project in Glenrothes. It is the base for all the Gilven projects and is a supported, safe residential accommodation for ten homeless young women as they are assessed, supported and helped towards moving on to their own accommodation. These young women are referred to us through Fife Council Homes4Good centres where an initial assessment will be carried out.

Upon arrival at Gilven House, we conduct an informal interview to assess the level of support required. Each individual is allocated with a key worker who will work on a one-to-one basis to create a personalised support plan. The work is ongoing until a point is reached when they are able to move on to a Gilven scatter flat supported by our outreach team.

The Flats Project

In partnership with Fife Council, we manage twelve flats in the community. After someone has been with the Gilven House Project for some time and/or has learnt enough skills – they are moved on into one of our supported flats. There we continue support them in the community. Their stay in these flats is dependent upon how well they do. Eventually, when ready, they will be given their own flat or house by Fife Council.

Employability: Highway to a better life Project

This Project is currently funded by Fife Council and is for the women in the Main House and the Flats. This funding is to enable our service users to gain skills toward employability.

Community Support Project

This Project offers support for men and women who have their own tenancy but may be vulnerable or likely to become vulnerable as a result of a problem or issue within their lives which could lead to action being taken against them and the loss of their tenancy.
